The International Ballet was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1941 by choreographer and dancer Mona Inglesby. The original company consisted of twenty-one dancers with a repertoire of seven ballets and a permanent orchestra of fifteen. One of the aims of International Ballet was to present classical ballets in the manner in which they were originally conceived.
